ACC MBPT Audio and Recording Workshop for High School Students
The ACC/MBPT Summer Workshop is open to all high school students who will be sophomores, juniors, or seniors during the school year beginning August 2018. Spring 2018 graduates may be admitted if the student is interested in attending ACC. You must fill out an application in order to be considered. Applicants will be screened by a committee of qualified ACC faculty.
The ACC/MBPT Summer Workshop will expose students to the field of music and sound production. Students will visit this unique world from a vocational point of view. They will learn what job opportunities are available and the responsibilities that go with them. Student participation will be emphasized along with hands-on learning. At the end of the workshop, each student should understand the basics of how a song is recorded, produced, and brought to market. In addition, students will understand how radio and TV commercials are produced.
The ACC/MBPT Summer Workshop is a unique week-long program for those who are interested in music and sound production. The workshop will be held in the ACC recording studios on the Northridge campus. Students will learn how a song is conceived, constructed and produced; from initial inspiration, rough sketch, demo, to final recording and mixdown. Students will also learn the basics of music and sound production for film, television, and radio. Students will participate in the recording of a professional band, create a remix, and help create a TV commercial. Anyone interested in music production, recording, and sound for picture should contact the Austin Community College Music Business, Performance and Technology department to reserve their spot in this week long workshop.
