Video Game Programming with Hello World (Teens 13-18)
Austin Central Library and Hello World have partnered together to host a rigorous computer science educational workshop for Teens ages 13-18 (age limit strictly enforced). Students will get the opportunity to meet and work alongside professional game engineers to learn coding concepts used by video game programmers every day. This workshop is intended for students with all levels of programming experience and brings students into the complex and interconnected world of video game development, with a focus on coding in a GameMaker Language (beginners; based in Java) or C# (experienced coders). Hello World has scoped out 15 levels of achievement across all programming languages, including those for Game Engineering, starting with Level 1 (beginner) up to what we call Acumen, which is equivalent to completing college and graduate-level content in that programming language. Given this, even if you have attended a Game Engineering course with us before, or it it’s your first time, you will be placed in a level matched perfectly with your experience! Technology permeates our lives and drives the global economy. We believe our innovation-driven world is dependent upon individuals with strong engineering and computational competencies. Through this workshop, we aim to encourage, inspire, and prepare the next generation of leaders to think like engineers and begin to envision themselves on the front lines of any industry.
