2019 ATX Aging & Innovation Summit

Simply email info@austinup.org for a promo code.  In this, AustinUP's third annual Aging & Innovation Summit, we will explore themes of equity, diversity and intergenerational community engagement with a goal of expanding aging innovation in Austin. We welcome entrepreneurs, researchers, investors, city leaders, business leaders, nonprofits, older adults, caregivers and individuals interested in the aging conversation. AGENDA: 9:30 a.m.: Registration 10 a.m.: Opening Keynote Presentation: Our keynote speaker is Jewel Mullen, M.D., M.P.H., M.P.A. She is the associate dean for health equity at Dell Medical School, as well as an associate professor in the school’s population health and internal medicine departments. She also serves as Director of Health Equity at Ascension Seton to help meet health equity goals across its system. Her presentation, titled, "Assuring Optimal Health for All Older Adults in Austin," will kick off our event.  10:45 – 11 a.m.: Break 11 a.m. Panel: “Welcome to Austin, Innovators” Dan Bullock, beloved Austin writer, speaker, leadership consultant and founder of The Mosey Project, will moderate a panel of representatives from aging-related businesses currently launching in Austin. The panel will discuss ways these newcomers are engaging with the community, working to improve the future of aging in Austin and ensuring equity/diversity as they launch their products/services. Panelists: Edward Arsenault, Executive Director, ReServe, Inc.; Jennifer Hammer, Director of Strategic Partnerships, Silvernest; and Suzanne Adatto, Senior Director of Care Pro Experience, Honor.   12 noon: Lunch (eat, network and visit exhibitors) 1 – 1:45 p.m.: Breakout session (choose one of three tracks)  Innovation Track:“The Impact of Women Entrepreneurs in the Aging Space” Kerry Rupp, General Partner, True Wealth Ventures; Jean Anne Booth, CEO and Founder, UnaliWear; and Yael Katz, CEO, BrainCheck will talk about their experience supporting or starting a “silver tech” company as well as the larger impact of women in the industry.  Business Track:“Align Your Business Model with the Longevity Revolution.”  Joe Coughlin, head of the MIT AgeLab, notes that one-third of our adult lives (8,000 days) can be expected for those living beyond 65 years of age. How can people extend their health span so that these years are high quality and purposeful? How can businesses partner with individuals to help make the most of this longevity revolution? From housing to services to technology there are plenty of examples of what and what not to do. Ryan Frederick, Founder & CEO of SmartLiving360.com, an advisory and real estate development firm, will guide a discussion that gets to the kernel of what’s most important for consumers and businesses alike in this age of longevity.  Consumer Track:"Innovations in Emergency Preparedness for Those Aging in Place" Lisa Sepulveda, Community Services Program Manager, Austin-Travis County EMS, and Tina Tran, State Director, AARP, will review ideas and insight from both Austin and Houston perspectives.  2 – 2:45 p.m.: Breakout session (choose one of three tracks) Innovation Track: "Senior Housing: Breaking New Ground" Heather Potts, Mature Market Consultant, will moderate this panel of professionals pursuing innovative housing projects in Central Texas. They’ll discuss the vision, as well as the rewards and challenges of bringing these projects to fruition. Panelists: Rose M.
