Colleges Must Choose: Pursue Truth or Harmony/Social Justice (CEL Fusion Discussion)
The Center for Ethics and Leadership invites the St. Edward’s and Austin communities to gather over a complimentary lunch to discuss this thought-provoking topic of our modern times: The pursuit of truth sometimes involves hearing difficult, even painful things, but college should be a place where we seek the truth without fear or favor. However, colleges should also pursue social justice, which might mean we should not say what excludes the marginalized members of society. So, can colleges do both? Can we pursue truth and justice? Or just one or the other? Read the discussion articles here: https://www.chronicle.com/article/Are-Colleges-Failing/244544 https://www.nytimes.com/2019/06/29/opinion/sunday/liberalism-united-states.html Please RSVP by January 23, 2020, for a free lunch.
