This is a ride of the Violet Crown cycling club with normally two groups, a 50 mile group and an 80 mile group. Maps are only included when the group joins an Austin Cycling Association ride so plan to keep up.
Note on pace: It is recommended that you have a fitness base that will allow you to ride 18 MPH for 3 hours when joining this ride. Typically rides are 40-60 miles at 16-18 mph during the winter and 50-80+ miles at 18-22 mph the rest of the time. Winter rides designated as "fixed gear welcome" will include riders with fixed gear bikes. On those rides, the pace will usually average less than 18 with maximums of 22-23 due to the nature of how fast I can turn the pedals.
