Students and Technology
Technology goes hand in hand with many aspects of life today and it is incorporated in almost every single field that exists. This is because technology has surely made our lives easier and has brought about a huge change to how work is done because all the menial tasks are handled by all the different sorts of tech that exist whilst the more complicated jobs are left to the professionals who know how to effectively use the tech they have been given to maximize the amount of productive work they do and the case is the same for students who use technology for their studies as well. However, there are two sides to every coin and both are explained further below.
Pros of students relying on technology
Students have surely started to rely a lot on technology but this is a good thing because they can do twice the amount of work that they could do without the help of technology especially using the internet instead of searching for a lot of books for purposes like research. If they had to search menially for books, it would take them a very long time just to get all the books in order and search through them for a very long time to find the few pieces of knowledge they need for their essays or such but with the Internet, they can just type in a topic and get so much information about it with just a click of a button. They do not have to tire themselves out by searching for the right books, but rather they can click on links, the topics of which are quite specified and really make it so much easier to write an essay quickly and effectively.
Moreover, technology also helps save paper and ink, the former of which makes the use of word programs for writing essays a much environmental friendly option since using paper means cutting down trees to keep up with the demand and all cutting down trees does is increase the pollution, which is already quite a serious problem. Even for methods of teaching, technology gives a huge benefit to all the children who find it harder to learn the conventional way and if teachers use the Internet to show the students videos or pictures related to the topic they are teaching, all the visually learning students will understand concepts better and this will then be shown in the tests and exams they appear for where they will score better and better scores will or course raise their chances of getting into a good university where they can then have a huge chance at a good future.
Cons of students relying on technology
With the increased use of relying on technology comes a new set of problems as well. Firstly, for all the students who study on their laptops or their electronic tablets, it is easy to develop some health problems like aching joints or the vision in their eyes becoming weaker since they have to stare at a screen for extended periods of time. This also leads to more health problems which will hinder them later on because it is quite obvious that their joints will hurt and all. Students also forget the value of working hard because doing research is a hard thing and they can just get the information they want with the click of a button which makes studying too easy. Students should at least spend time to collect all the materials they will be needing so it teaches them how important working hard is and that not all things come easily. What’s more is that not all the information available on the Internet is right, it might be fake because there is no way to verify it but the information given in books is valid so when students use the Internet to get information they need, they might be getting the wrong info which causes a lot of problems for their studies.
