Questions, please contact firstname.lastname@example.org Tejano Geneology Society of Austin (TGSA) preserves Tejano and Mexican-American heritage by: • Assisting with genealogical research• Promoting authors who write about Hispanic history• Promoting awareness of Hispanic history in schools and in our communities• Facilitating learning by hosting and attending genealogy conferences, historical events, arranging speakers and presentations• Continuing to promote the awareness of the Tejano Monument on the grounds of the State Capitol as a symbol of Hispanic contributions to the State of Texas. Monthly Meet Up featuring Guest Speakers: FIRST SATURDAY of Each Month 10am - 12pmOn the first Saturday of each month, TGSA hosts their monthly meet-up, featuring guest speakers.This is a great time to find out about TGSA, meet community members, learn about local history and ongoing projects related to geneology, DNA testing, family heritage and history. 10am-12pm in the Black Box Theater, downstairs at the ESB-MACC. For August 4th, TGSA welcomes one of our own-Marilyn Galvan-to speak to us about GED Match. Marilyn is well-versed in creating the files and finding information regarding this DNA platform. GEDMatch is a free service that helps you find relatives. This service will help you find more matches with people who will more likely have an interest in genealogy. Bring your laptops if you wish. Preserving Our Past for the Future: THIRD THURSDAY of Each Month 10am - 3pmOn the third Thursday of each month, TGSA hosts a workshop open to all where community members can research their family history to uncover the stories of your family’s past with the help of TGSA’s researchers. We provide access to research materials and software to help you stitch together the fabric of your family’s history to reveal how you came to be. Anyone who wants to participate can bring photos, letters, certificates, or other historial documents to research their family history. Members of TGSA will be on-site to assist. 10am-3pm in the Digital Media Lab, upstairs at the ESB-MACC.
